Rainy Elopement at Olympic National Park: Kelsy+ Lenny

If rain on your wedding day is lucky, these two are the luckiest! Kelsy and Lenny married at Olympic National Park near Lake Angeles and were dodging the rain all day long!

Their love of outdoors was definitely put to the test, but didn’t let that stop them! After a first look on the dock with umbrellas they hiked up to say I do in the famous giant trees and ditched the umbrellas despite the rain! I love that she pulled up her hair after the ceremony. Anyone with long hair understand that move, especially in the rain!

They then hiked to Marymere Falls for a few photos before heading back to their cabin to dry out and enjoy some champagne and treats.

Check out their day below and some Q&A with the couple!

How did you meet?

We met at a mutual friends wedding. I caught the bouquet, and he caught the garter. No lie.

How did you decide to elope vs. having a larger wedding?

Eloping in a National Park was really fitting for us because we were outside, in the forest, which is something that we enjoy. Plus it saved us a lot of money.

How did you decide on the location?

I was flying to Washington for work, and Lenny had suggested that he fly out later in the week and go to Olympic, Mt Rainer, and Seattle for a few days. We wanted to see the parks, and catch a Mariners game. One thing led to another, and before we knew it, we were planning a wedding, instead of just another vacation.

Did you tell anyone ahead of time? How did you break the news?

We told a small group of people (parents, brothers, close friends) a little while after the wedding. Everybody else we told the next day, once we got a few pictures back from our photographer, via social media.

Do you have any advice for couples currently planning their elopements?

Keep it simple. Your wedding day shouldn’t be stressful.

What was your favorite part of the day and why?

Sitting in our lodge, drinking champagne, eating chocolate cake, and looking out the giant window at the beautiful Lake Angeles. The fireplace was warm, the champagne was bubbly. It had been raining during the ceremony, so we were both soaked, and it was really nice to just get into warm clothes, in our warm room, and celebrate to our future. It really was perfect for us.
