It’s currently freezing and snowing where I am (Chicago) while blogging this, s0 I desperately needed a tropical escape!
This gorgeous elopement in Bora Bora was the perfect cure for my winter blues! Kim and Gadi traveled to The St. Regis in Bora Bora to say their I do’s. They embraced the local Polynesian wedding traditions by including flower crowns and leis and a spin on the handfasting done with the Auti leaf. The priest makes bracelets from the leaves and literally “ties the knot” together before a water blessing with water from a conch shell.
Check out some Q& A from the couple and these gorgeous photos!!

How did you meet?
I was a morning anchor on TV at his old station. He came in and asked me on a date! He proposed in the Bahamas on a private island- he put the ring in a little treasure chest and we opened it!
How did you decide on the location and plan for the ceremony?
We had a romantic elopement! We wanted it to just be the two of us on the beach- soaking in the sun, water and focusing on the love for one another.
The elopement process at the St. Regis was wonderful, and their ceremony packages were great. We stuck with a simple white plumeria for our flower leis and crowns which were very true to the culture and theme of the French Polynesian region. And we included our hand written vows of 10 promises to each other .
What was your favorite part of the day?
Jumping in the ocean to wreck the dress!
What advice do you have for couples planning their day?
Make sure to make it about YOU and no one else!
