This elopement has me wanting to jump on a plane immediately (well, when it’s safe to do so). Lauren and Jonathan originally had planned for a larger wedding in their city of Birmingham, Alabama. They quickly realized that the stress that it was creating wasn’t right for them and decided to elope!
From their Photographer – “One afternoon I got a text from Lauren asking how I felt about going to Italy for their wedding instead in November. I said, “Nov 2020″ or in like 3 weeks? Lauren response was in three weeks, we have decided to elope!
I helped them find the perfect hotel venue in Positano, Italy who helped accommodate a lot for the couple. We met in Naples, Italy on Monday and we drove together to the Amalfi Coast and had a couples session while getting to know the area better together. We walked from the top of the city all the way down to the beach. The views are absolutely breathtaking.
The next day we had the wedding and it was suppose to rain all day, however not a drop happened, just a cloudy day. We were able to have their ceremony on a private balcony overlooking the Amalfi Coast and afterwards walked the city for some amazing editorial style photographs of the couple.
We needed up having a 10 hour day of fun and laughter celebrating these two with a photographer from Savannah, videographer from London, a sister officiant from Alabama and a friend just joining the fun because she could.”

How did you meet?
Jonathan and I met through an online dating application: Bumble for the win! While online dating can be difficult at times, it was certainly worth it in this case. Jonathan and I’s story started somewhat awkwardly after I canceled our first date in order to go on another date with someone else I had previously met online. Fortunately, I changed my mind and rescheduled. Jonathan took a screenshot of those early exchanges, and loves reminding me. Our first lunch together was almost a disaster as well after I ended up being almost 3 hours late. Thankfully he waited for me and I am so grateful he did. We bonded instantly over our very late lunch and I remember being so impressed that he was a combination of everything you could want in a guy. We were able to bond more throughout the following year over our faith, our love for travel, and getting to do everyday life together. I opened his heart to the love of dogs and he opened mine to the idea of raising a family together. 
Tell us about your wedding day! Was there anything that inspired the them or style?
It was all Positano, Italy! I picked the city for our elopement because of the amazing backdrop and rich colors it provided. Blue & white porcelain pottery covers the whole city and it is brightened by lemon trees everywhere you look. The only color I added was rose gold. I have always loved the look of the finish and Jonathan obviously knew that. I was so happy to see my engagement ring when he proposed was made of rose gold, just as I always wanted. I then added more rose gold with all of the jewelry I chose to go with my wedding ring! Also my shoes! I was obsessed with them. They were the perfect shade of Positano blue. Made by Badgley Mischka and covered in crystals!We legally signed our wedding documents in Alabama and then had my little sister preform our actual wedding ceremony in Positano so it would be personal to us. She ended up writing the sweetest ceremony I had ever heard.
Tell us about any and all of the details you incorporated!
Honestly, I was looking for a dress off the rack since we only had one month to pull everything together for our elopement so we wouldn’t miss decent weather in Italy. I wanted simple and elegant and I was so thankful I was able to find it in such little time. I ended up finding it at McClendon’s bridals in Sylacauga, Alabama and the mother and daughter, Kim & Ginger, who owned the beautiful store were amazing to work with and helped me find my dream wedding dress!
I only had a bouquet for the day. Since we were traveling to Italy bringing flowers was not an option. The Hotel Conca d’oro was incredible at arranging a bouquet to be delivered to my hotel room on the day of the wedding. I only asked that the flowers be white and with greenery only as to not take away from the colors of Positano.
How did you personalize the day?
We knew it would be a long day of photographs so we planned to have a break in between for lunch. We had the pleasure of just enjoying the day, strolling through the city and taking photos and taking in all of the scenery. During so, we wandered into a restaurant, Risorante al Palazzo, that had an amazing courtyard where we wanted to take photos. The staff was so welcoming that we decided to break and eat lunch there. It ended up being one of our favorite spots from the pictures! The hotel had an amazing view of the dome of the Church of Saint Mary of the Assumption, a beautiful lemon grove, and an elegant wine cellar. All which they allowed us to walk around and take pictures as long as we wanted.
What was your favorite part of the day?
The views! The customized ceremony that my little sister wrote for us! Just getting to get married to the most amazing man at one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.
What advice do you have for couple planning their elopements or weddings?
Definitely consider eloping! It was such a relaxing day and we got to make it all about us. And the pictures we have now are unbelievable!
