Welcome to this gorgeous tiny wedding in Rome! I love everything about this! But I will let their photographer Rita share a little more about their day and their story:
“We could not have asked for a better weather on December 28, 2019 when Alissa and Drew eloped in Palazzo Mattei in the heart of Rome, Italy. It was filled with sunshine although clearly cold and windy, since we were almost saying goodbye to the year but their warm hearts and the love of their closest ones made us almost forget about the low temperatures.
I remember the first time Eleonora from Peach Perfect Weddings reached out, she explained this lovely couple wanted something very unusual, outside of the box for their winter destination elopement: they were just looking for some amazing spots in Rome, in the city itself, nothing formal.
Well, the Eternal city has truly some one of a kind locations, and after listing some, and considering the time of year, possible weather and the fact that as beautiful as Trastevere can be (besides being my favorite spot in Rome), there are no greenery around in December. So we opted for a wonderful palazzo: Palazzo Mattei di Giove, in the Ghetto area of Rome. I remember as an architecture student I have been there for the “Conservation and restoration of cultural heritage” course, and it was amazing to go back.
During the months prior to the wedding, it was fun to email with Ali and have Julie, her awesome mum answer back, too. I rarely have seen such a wonderful connection and relationship between a mum and her girls.
Finally the day came and in Hotel degli Artisti, Alissa and Andrew got ready then we went to the Capitolium for the first look. Needless to say, the bride was beautiful in her simple yet super elegant gown, her lovely make up and hair, the gorgeous bouquet and her Michael Kors sandals (yes, sandals. If I could have, I would have worn another jacket :P)
These two love bugs said their vows with tears in everyone’s eyes, I remember shaking while Andrew read his words, remembering how much time they were apart and all the difficulties they went through, together. The whole ceremony was incredibly sweet and romantic, their tied the knot, and their hands together – literally – and were declared husband and wife. How fun, during the signature when Ali was unsure whether to sign with the new or old last name :)) They danced to their favorite song, hugged and kissed and were just the happiest people on planet Earth. Being a part of such a special day is always truly memorable, but this one might be even more because of the kindness they all showed towards me, Ali, Julie etc.. They are an amazing family and I really hope my roads will lead me back to Las Vegas one day so we can meet again!”
