Arkansas Sunset Elopement : Alexis + Jose

I’m a sucker for a great sunset with a view, and this elopement does not disappoint!

Alexis and Jose decided to elope at Petite Jean State Park in Arkansas. They roamed around for photos and said their vows to each other with a gorgeous sunset as their backdrop!

Check out the photos and some Q&A with the couple below!

Q: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

A: My husband has always been my younger brother’s best friend since they were in school! We both had known of each other for a while but never had a thought that we would ever end up together. We both pursued other people and weren’t ever happy.  Then years later at my brother’s wedding we were reunited! Months after my brother’s wedding we started becoming friends and chatted every once in a while. We both had just gotten out of our bad relationships and so we confided in one another. We had spoken every day, we went on trips with each other to keep company. We were BEST FRIENDS. It was just another day of hanging out when all of the sudden he asks me to marry him!!! I honestly thought that he was joking because it was so random. There was no getting down on one knee, there was no ring…. it was just him sitting there knowing that he didn’t want to spend another day of his life without me by his side. All he knew is that he wanted me forever and so he asked and of course  I said YES!!!!!

Q: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

A: The Most special moment was the moment that we laid eyes on each other for the first time that day. Seeing him in that nice suit knowing that I was walking towards him to give him my life…. took my breath away. In that same moment he had the biggest grin on his face and he was absolutely speechless. Another special moment was our vows. Of course he made me cry, they were short but sweet and I knew he had meant them from the bottom of his heart.

Q: Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day?

A: Our wedding day wasn’t like the ordinary wedding day, we decided to ELOPE!!!  Although, our parents and immediate family did know and approved 100%.  We wanted our day to be just about the two of us, not having our focus on things that ‘could’ go wrong.

Q: Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception?

A: The only decor we had was the natural caves of Petit Jean Mountain and the beautiful sunset falling behind the trees as we stood on the edge of a rock over looking the hills.

Q: What were the florals like in your wedding?

A: My Bouquet of flowers was all we had to spice it up a little bit! The style that we wanted for our elopement was classy. My flowers had colors like mauve, plum, white, peach, burgundy, and navy, along with some eucalyptus.

Q: What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

A: My favorite part of our wedding was the fact  that it was just the two of us! There were no distractions, no worries, and no upsets. Everything felt slow motion and beautiful. It felt as if the world just stopped spinning just for us as we gazed into each others eyes and promised to love one another for the rest of our lives.

Q: Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look?

A: The style that we wanted for our elopement was classy. My flowers had colors like mauve, plum, white, peach, burgundy, and navy, along with some eucalyptus. My dress was white, long , and perfectly fitted!  It had long sleeves but dropped off of the shoulders to give that cold shoulder look. My husband wore a navy blue fitted suit with a white button up dress shirt underneath. We did not put a tie on him and we left a couple of buttons undone to show his chest a little bit. We wanted it classy but sexy.

Q: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

A: My wedding advice that I would give to others would be to keep it specifically special. Keep it about the two of you and less about the material things! Live in that moment and don’t allow the distractions to try and bring you down!
