Backyard Maryland Microwedding: Sara + Curtis

It’s no secret by now that the look of weddings in 2020 has changed. But in our opinion (and we may be biased) intimate weddings have always been amazing. We’re seeing more and more couples go this route and we’re loving all the amazing backyard transformations!

Sara and Curtis said I do surrounded by their 20 most important people. They decked out the backyard in gorgeous florals and enjoyed a dinner with everyone after.

Here are some words from their photographer, Katherine about the day :

“Sara and Curtis knew that they wanted to be able to celebrate their wedding with those closest to them, their immediate families, with their guests numbering fewer than 20 people. Although the wedding was small, that didn’t stop the couple from thinking through each detail, from the florals that decorated the gazebo to bringing in Gundalow Gourmet to cater the wedding dinner under the bistro lights on the patio.

Shortly before the first look, you could find Sara laying out rose petals beneath the gazebo and Curtis tying up balloons- adjusting all of the finishing touches around the space. To me, that’s one of the truly beautiful things of an intimate wedding in a space that you are familiar and comfortable in. Seeing it transformed into a space where one of the biggest milestones of your lives will take place can be that much more rewarding and working together to make that happen, well, isn’t that the most beautiful thing?

I loved that Sara and Curtis chose to walk into the ceremony together after they set aside time for their first look. Having that additional time to breath and sip champagne beforehand I’m sure was also helpful after finishing all the remaining details. Those are the moments when the emotions can truly sink in, that you are about to be MARRIED! Congratulations Sara and Curtis!!!””
