When I first saw this elopement I though “Wedding day blizzards, how fun!”
Then when I read the story that went along with it below it was the most unique sweetest (no pun intended) tribute I’ve seen in awhile.
They said I do with just their dogs and the Father of Bride present before spending some time exploring Oak Creek Canyon. And then capped of their evening with beers and stunning views!
Here are a few words about them and the day from their photographer:
“Forced to reschedule a traditional wedding because of COVID-19, this couple decided that their personal relationship was the most important thing to them. They decided to elope in Oak Creek Canyon, near Sedona Arizona as a tribute to the brides mother who was no longer with them.
Her parents also held their reception at a bar and grill in the canyon that has since been turned into a Dairy Queen. It is an ongoing family joke that her parents got married at Dairy Queen, so the couple decided to make a pitstop at DQ and get blizzards for their reception. Following the dessert at Dairy Queen, the couple hiked into the Canyon to watch the sunset and make toasts with their favorite craft beer “Mother Road” Tower Station IPA.
The father of the bride was the only witness and he acted as ringbearer and witness on the certificate. Well.. him and their dogs.”
