Port Townsend Elopement: Marci + Johnny

One of my favorite things about elopements is that they can be whatever you want them to be! Marci and Johnny opted for an outdoor ceremony with just the two of them. They exchanged rings, strolled around town and stopped for beers. Sounds like the perfect wedding day to me!

Here are a few words from their Photographer, Megan:

“‘We(Marci, Johnny, Corey and I) met up in Port Townsend to capture their vows and explore the area together. Marci rocked a mauve wedding dress, Johnny looked extra dapper in his blue suit and they stunned me with their HANDMADE wedding rings they created together at With These Rings. Their obvious joy and excitement was infectious, and they had us cry laughing basically the entire time.

So grateful for you Marci and Johnny; thanks for asking us to capture this special time! And also, bring us on your next adventure!”

Enjoy some Q&A with the couple below!

Q: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.

A: We met on Tinder!  We knew almost instantly that we were crazy about each other.  I kept saying “oh THIS is what love is, huh?”  The proposal was AMAZING.  We hadn’t even been together two years. We had just moved into our first home a couple of months previous, so we had a big Halloween party.  Just about all of our friends and family were there.  He was dressed as Beetlejuice and I was dressed as Lydia Deetz.  Quite late into the party, a conga line formed when the song “Jump in the Line” (a la Beetlejuice) came on.  I joined in.  When I turned the corner, he was on his knee with a coffin shaped ring box he’d made that had a spider ring in it (he knew I didn’t want an actual engagement ring, just the band).  He asked me if I’d be his ghoul forever.  It was perfection.  I couldn’t say yes quickly enough.

Q: Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette?

A: We wanted the day to be super personal and cozy, that’s why we chose to elope!  We didn’t go with a specific theme, but my dress was a dusty grape color so we did get my husband a tie to match.
We didn’t have to do any decoration, we got married in the great outdoors, in the Pacific Northwest.  No decor needed!

Q: Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.

A: I knew I didn’t want to go a traditional route dress wise.  I wanted to look like a Grecian Goddess!  I chose a lace overlay dusty grape dress, long and flowy.  My hair was pulled back with a middle part and I had some strappy flat sandals.  I think I nailed the Grecian look!  Husband wore a classic navy blue suit with a tie with succulents to match my dress.

Q: Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?

A: It was personalized in that we did 100% everything we wanted.  A small elopement in the woods 🙂
Getting to wear the rings we had made with With These Rings just a couple of days previous was very special.

Q: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?

A: Do what you want to do!!  Some friends and especially family might have a moment of “aw man I wish you’d do it X way” but ultimately they will get over it and just be happy for you.
