Sedona Elopement at Cathedral Rock: Amanda + Dillon

When you’ve got a gorgeous backdrop like that of Cathedral Rock in Sedona you don’t need much else to make the perfect elopement! Amanda and Dillon chose this location for their elopement ceremony and let Mother Nature be the decorator. She added a stunning bouquet to complete her look.

They said I do on their 7 year anniversary with just two friends as guests. The Red Rocks provided the perfect backdrop for them to become Mr. and Mrs.!

How did you meet?

Long story, but I’ll make it short. We technically met in high school (he was the hot jock & I was a grade younger with a major crush) we officially met the summer after I graduated and a year after he had through a mutual friend @ a house party.

How did you decide to elope? Did you face any challenges along the way?

Honestly we were both saved by Jesus Christ, & it felt right to become one in Holy Matrimony. It was in November when we decided that we should elope one our 7th year together January 31st 2020. I would say the biggest challenge was making sure everything arrived on time. My ring literally came in the night before. It was all Gods work.

How did you decide on the location?

We are originally from Houston, Tx  and we moved to Arizona for work last March. Our thoughts were how amazing would it be to look back in 10, or even 20 years and say “remember when we lived in Arizona & got married in one of the most magical places” not your typical elopement in my opinion.

Did you tell anyone ahead of time? How did you break the news?

To be honest we told our parents probably a week before.. with no details… the only people we really told were our amazing photographers! (They helped more than they know) So I think that would count as truly eloping? I told my best friend 2 weeks before (she helped so much) she added in the small details I completely forgot you needed. Like a bouquet, a boutonniere, & of-course something blue. & the rest found out on Facebook. We called our parents later that weekend to give them the details of everything.

What was your favorite part of the day and why?

Our favorite part was saying our vows. In that special moment it feels like it’s just you two floating, no one else, nothing else matters, eyes locked, giving yourselves to each other forever. It sounds so cliche but when we talked about it we both got emotional because it felt like we were one with God.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their own elopements?

I wish we had some magic advise to give couples, because I know it can be stressful (even a small elopement) but I can tell you one thing. Faith. If we didn’t pray as hard as we did during those 2 & 1/2 months I don’t think it would had worked out as perfectly as it did.
