Tell us about the services you offer.
We can do it all! Whether you are looking for something more simple like a 2-hour photography coverage for your day, or a full-day experience (you are only going to have ONE elopement day in your life after all!). We are here for you. We are an elopement photographer and officiant team. We can be with you every step of the way to plan the perfect elopement you are imagining. Anything from flowers & location to permits & other logistics. We will give you all the driving directions, suggested hotels/Airbnbs, and all the little things that help make an elopement run smoothly! We will be your travel planner, wedding planner, and most importantly, your trusted friend through the process! As for the photography side of things- we believe that your elopement day photography can be more important than big wedding photography. Why? Because at the end of the day, the only proof you might have of your marriage (besides a legally binding marriage license 😉 are your photos! People get entire day wedding photography for big weddings – elopements need longer coverage too! We aren’t too strict on the timing – we generally like to cover part of you two getting ready, before, during, and after the ceremony – generally with a change of scenery.
What locations do you service?
Emily Jenks Photography is based out of San Francisco, but we love to travel! Northern California offers amazing places to elope! We have had elopements all over- at beautiful beaches up and down the coast to Big Sur, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, Mendocino, Redwoods… whatever you are looking for, we, as natives of Northern California and avid explorers, will make your dream elopement a reality.
How many years have you been in business? How did you get started?
I have been in the business for about 3 years. I started Henry and Andrew’s Guide in 2017 and realized how much I loved documenting everything I did in photography. I took both college classes and local photography courses, but mostly I am self-taught. Last year, after trying to juggle being an attorney and a photographer, I decided to quit to focus on my passion for photography full time. I enjoy all types of family, couples, and travel photography. It became a passion to do all things wedding related- weddings/engagements/boudoir shoots, etc. And then, elopements quickly became a favorite- a whole day of love and happiness! I now do 90% elopements, and 10% everything else.
What is your favorite thing about elopements?
Elopements have a special place in my heart because my husband and I wished we did our own – and we get to live out our dream wedding with our couples. I love elopements because the couple can only have the most important people in their lives, or just the two of them – as easy as it gets! Seeing the excitement on the couple’s faces is what keeps me coming back. I love to help couples show their fun, happy, and warm side in photos because I believe your wedding day is not a production day – it’s a day filled with happiness and just having fun!
Can you share a favorite elopement with us?
I struggle to pick favorites! Each elopement has it’s little, unique aspects that make them each special. Yosemite has been one of my favorite locations lately though. It is just such an amazing place to get lost in the simple root of the elopements. For example, I really enjoyed a recent elopement in Yosemite with Meg and Ian. Can you share some advice for couple out there planning their elopements?
1. Remember why you want to have the elopement- love and the simplicity of it! I want to help take the stress of a big wedding off of your shoulders, so you can focus on what is important. Enjoy the day and have fun- and I’ll capture all of the happiness!
2. Life is meant to be an adventure! You can make an elopement whatever you want it to be! Authenticity is a big reason to have an elopement! If there are certain things/people/places, etc. that you feel are really important to your wedding day, then make sure to make them a priority! I am here to remind you what those things are and keep them in the forefront.
3. You don’t need the extras. I am all for couples wanting to set up a backdrop, seating, wedding donkeys, etc. But also remember, you will be out in nature – a beautiful backdrop on its own – and you two will be the center of the focus! That being said, if that’s part of your vision, I am here to make it happen for you – especially if it involves donkeys.
