Winter Elopement in Germany : Emily + Kenny

Clearly when I planned this week of features back in Jan/Feb I knew I would need some cold and snow in July haha.

Emily and Kenny decided to turn their Christmas holiday trip from Nashville, TN to see family in Germany into their elopement! They hired the team at Peach Perfect Weddings who helped them put the pieces together.

They said their I do’s surrounded in snow and had photos at a beautiful lake nearby.

Check it out below and some Q&A with the couple as well!

Q: How long have you been together (before the wedding)?
A: 2 years

Q: How long was your engagement?
A: 8 months

Q: Why did you choose your venue and/or wedding destination?
A: His family is from Germany and we wanted to spend some time around Christmas in Germany. I wanted to see all the Christmas markets!

Q: What was the best part of the day?
A: It is hard to pick. Our ceremony was very special. We had written vows but our officiant also added some very special traditions including hand fasting and the bridal cup. After the ceremony, we got to spend all day in beautiful locations on lakes and forests with our photographer until sunset. Elvira helped up with perfect reservations for dinner for a once in a lifetime experience. I LOVED our photographer. She got to know us before our trip by skype and it made the experienced more relaxed.

Q: Any funny stories from the lead up to the wedding, or on the day itself?
A: The night before the wedding, we were riding the train to Füssen (our location) and my fiancé left a backpack that contained our rings, jewelry for the ceremony, money, medications and other important things on the train. He had to do a hunt for some wedding bands in town prior to the ceremony. His cousin (who lives in Germany and speaks German) thankfully helped us talk to the train company and we were able to get our bag back the night after the ceremony. SO all was well in the end. But it is a funny story we like to tell.

Q: Tell us about the wedding attire?
A: I got my dress from David’s Bridal. It was a simple strapless white dress with a creamy lace overlay that gave it a bit of a train. I wore snow boots as we were outside in December with snow. The best part of my outfit were my coats! I had one fluffy white coat and one red fitted wool jacket. My husband wore a dark grey coat and black pants with a silk red tie to incorporate with my flowers and his boutonniere.

Q: What does marriage mean to you?
A: Marriage to me means that we are partners in the good times and the bad times. Your spouse sees and loves the best and worst about you. It is a partnership that brings happiness and love, but mine brings love and realness. We aren’t very “romantic” people, but I find love in the small things like him making me dinner when I have to work or going to the grocery store when I’m too tired.

Q: Any words of wisdom for other couples planning an elopement / destination wedding?
A: Go for it! Be daring! It may seem like a leap, but it’s an amazing experience. We had our ceremony with just us without family. It allowed us to focus on our love and connection leaving so much distraction behind. We will cherish this experience forever.
