Yosemite National Park Elopement : Kara +Peter

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a wedding in Yosemite that I wasn’t completely in love this. This one is no exception. Getting married with the mountain towering over you and then sweeping views of El Cap is major bucket list goals. Unfortunately it took a pandemic for this plan to come about, but despite the changes I think this plan ended up being their perfect day.

Here is what their photographer had to say about the day:

“Planning your wedding. It’s something most of us dream of since we were little. The proposal, the perfect day, the wedding dress, the venue. We dream of it all. What we don’t dream of is postponing, cancelling and be told your wedding will not be happening. Kara and Peter had the most beautiful wedding planned to take place in Julian, California. Surrounded by their closest friends and family but one day… their wedding dreams turned upside down. My name is Darian and I am Kara and Peters wedding photographer. When I received an unexpected email from Kara, I knew deep down what I was going to be reading, another 2020 postponement, here we go. However, this one was different from the rest, far different. Kara and Peter wanted nothing more than to be married. They couldn’t see themselves holding off until the pandemic passes. They also couldn’t see themselves holding a wedding with putting their friends and family at risk. So what did we do? We packed our bags and drove 8 hours to Yosemite. Kara, Peter, myself and the officiant. They said their I do’s in the beautiful tall grass meadows! It was QUIET. SO quiet and SO peaceful. Peter cried and it was the most pure and beautiful moment to witness. After the ceremony we trekked out to Taft Point. The hike was long and little did I know Peter was TERRIFIED of heights and cliffs. Kara giggled but said, he’ll be okay! Kara was just happy as could be. She danced around in her dress, took in the views Yosemite had to offer and was SO happy to finally be married to Peter. As their photographer, I will never forget this day. I want to encourage any couple who may be in the same postponement boat, to have fun with the situation. Don’t hold back. You can still get married and make the most beautiful memories out of it. I am grateful for Kara and Peters adventurous outlook on what 2020 brought for their wedding. In the end I believe it all turned out exactly as it was supposed to be. ”
